Wentworth Festival – stunning sounds in stunning surrounds

Heather Small, the powerful voice on a string of hits for M People, will be one of three headline acts at the Wentworth Festival this weekend.

A family friendly day out held in the stunning grounds of Wentworth Woodhouse, the festival has a vast array of acts from the world of music and comedy performing across a variety of stages.

The festival launched in 2017 and is the brainchild of radio presenter pals Toby Foster and Steve White – the idea was born in the beer garden of The Horseshoe in Harley. Passionate about Rotherham, their aim being to create a fun family day out for their neighbours and friends.

This year’s event on September 17 also has a new music stage for up and coming local artists and a comedy stage, as well as a fairground, axe throwing and food and beer tents.

In a recent Facebook post Steve White, talked people through the lineup. he said: “It’s going to be incredible. The lineup for the main stage kicks off at 11 o’clock with the Tin Soldiers, amazing brass band, followed by Tiny Barbara’s Surf Club featuring our very own Toby Foster and Big Shaun from the The Everly Pregnant Brothers, they are on stage at 12.

“At 1 o’clock is an incredible new artist for you to check out – Fabian. He’s brilliant and he’s going to be a real star of the future. He’s already working with some world class producers including Eliot Kennedy.

“Then we are into our 80’s / 90’s pop party, kicking off at 1:30 with Urban Cookie Collective, then Nathan from Brother Beyond – a great 80’s show he’s got. Followed by Baby D with “Let me be your Fantasy” and “So Pure” and all those 90’s tunes. And then headlining that pop party in the afternoon at 3 o’clock – 5ive performing all their hits. There’s about 13 hits, three number ones so that’s going to be a great show.

“5ive will be followed by Soul Sensation – a Wentworth Festival favourite, they take the party to another level. They’ll be on at 4 followed by Bulsara & His Queenies. What a band! If you love Queen, this is an incredible band. They’ve just performed the official Freddie Mercury birthday tribute concert in Montreal. That’s how good they are.

“Then we’ve got our three main headline acts – The Christians, The Farm, and topping the bill, Heather Small of M People. She’s going to be on at about twenty to 9.

“We just can’t wait!”

M People became one of the most successful British acts of all time, and Heather’s voice one of the most recognised. The group went on to win two BRIT Awards as well as picking up the prestigious Mercury Prize for their second album, Elegant Slumming.

Heather Small will be performing all of M People’s huge anthems including One Night In Heaven, Moving On Up, Sight For Sore Eyes, Search For The Hero, Renaissance and How Can I Love You More to name just a few as well as her amazing solo hits, including the global hit Proud.

“One night in Rovrum!”
