Football Fever!
The main event this month is the Women’s Euro 2022 – The biggest women’s European sport event in history.
France and Italy will lock horns at AESSEAL New York Stadium on 10 July, with Les Blues taking on Belgium here four days later. Group D is wrapped up with a tie between Iceland and France.
Saturday 23 July will see Rotherham host a prestigious Quarter-Final.
A record-breaking 500,000 tickets have been sold for the tournament before a ball has been kicked but you can still buy tickets for games in Rotherham. A family can take in a match for £30.
For each match that Rotherham hosts, the town centre will be transformed by a spectacular Fan Party (10, 14, 18 & 23 July), bringing you a festival of dance, movement, music, food and football skills.
You can also visit Rotherham United’s “Ambitious but Brilliant” exhibition, a new pop-up museum at the stadium celebrating the club and its loyal fans. At Clifton Park Museum, Grass Roots to Glory – “Our Story So Far” is an exhibition showcasing the heritage of women’s football.
Favourite for film fans
Outdoor cinema returns in the unique setting of Wentworth Woodhouse as Adventure Cinema hosts a series of movie classics in the gardens of the stately home.
Friday July 22 is Steven Spielberg’s 2021 West Side Story whilst July 23 you can celebrate 50 years of ABBA with Mamma Mia! Sunday night’s showing is the sing-along version of The Greatest Showman.
Classic Cars
Also at Wentworth Woodhouse, Great British Motor Shows bring the best of classic, modified and performance cars and motorbikes with their Classic & Performance Motor Show on July 17.
On July 15-17, there will be a VW show and entertainment as Dub Odyssey returns at the picturesque Hooton Lodge Farm.
Run & rides!
At Gulliver’s Valley, 1,000 fun runners are expected across two days on July 16 & 17, raising funds for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice!
A ticket combining the fun run and theme park entry is just £15 per person, with £5 of each entry being donated directly to Bluebell Wood.
Messy play!
On July 14, Bright Stars Play Space is hosting a messy play session for pre-walkers full of edible messy play options. Bring a towel and be prepared to get messy!
National Championships
The Hovercraft Club of Great Britain hosts a round of its national racing championship at Rother Valley Country Park on July 9 & 10. This exciting event is fee for spectators but parking charges apply.
Women of the World
WOW Rotherham is a vibrant, colourful, bold, fun, and fearless festival celebration of women, girls, trans and non-binary communities, connecting Rotherham to other women and girls across the globe as part of the WOW – Women of the World – family.
Taking place at Clifton Park on July 16 & 17, the festival will tackle the subjects that matter most to women, girls and non-binary people, and are for everyone – if you identify as a woman or know a woman, WOW is for you! The two-day festival celebration will inspire through a series of events, talks, debates, workshops, mentoring and performances.
Gunpowder Plot
The Three Inch Fools are back at Wentworth Woodhouse with a bang. Cue an explosive evening of short fuses and tall tales, as five actors try to pull off the most infamous conspiracy in history.
Summer Spectacular
Magna Science Adventure Centre’s Spectacular Summer begins on July 25. Expect exciting Family Workshops, Scalextric, an Animal Adventure trail and Under 5 soft play area and bouncy castle.
